HOW IT WORKS
Open the wallet
Open “Current Stake” in the official IOTA Wallet. XXL24 never asks for a seed, password or recovery phrase.
Choose a validator
Compare APY, commission, total stake, reliability and concentration risk. A high APY alone is not proof of quality.
Delegate IOTA
Confirm the amount. Stake starts counting from the next epoch. Tokens remain self-custodied in your account.
Receive rewards
Rewards are automatically reflected through the pool exchange rate and effectively compound. Results and APY vary.

A hardware wallet keeps the private key separate from the internet-connected computer. Transactions are reviewed and approved on the device. This reduces many online risks — but cannot prevent every mistake or deception.

The current IOTA Wallet supports Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex and Stax. The old Nano S has limited support and requires manual app installation; IOTA recommends a newer device because it is end-of-life.

How to protect IOTA and staking.
- 01Buy a new hardware wallet, preferably directly from the manufacturer or an authorised reseller.
- 02Initialize it yourself. Never use a recovery phrase supplied or pre-set with the device.
- 03Keep the recovery phrase offline on paper or metal — never photograph, type or store it in the cloud.
- 04Keep the PIN secret; use an optional passphrase only if you fully understand its consequences.
- 05Update firmware, the IOTA app and IOTA Wallet only through official sources.
- 06Before approving, verify recipient address, amount and action on the hardware display.
- 07Send a small test transaction first and confirm receipt.
- 08Store the recovery backup separately and protect it from water and fire.
- 09Never connect a wallet through links in emails, chats, ads or direct messages.
- 10Use separate accounts or wallets for daily use, staking and long-term reserves.
Important:A hardware wallet protects the key, not your decision. If you approve a malicious or incorrect transaction on the device, it can still execute. Always verify product and version compatibility in official IOTA documentation immediately before use.
